"Law of Consecration" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 17:48:58

I am pretty sure Mitt Romney doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the republican nomination. At least I wish I am right about that. For any of my readers who have lived or live in Utah you probably know why no be who is elected if a mormon is ever elected president of the US we ordain be in serious trouble. If they are a lay or excommunicated mormon fine but if they are a member in good standing with a current temple recommend then their loyalties lie with their church and their god not with the good of the people. I know this doesn't seem to make them different from the current fundamental freaks but if you know and understand the it IS different. In the LDS endowment ceremony the faithful take several oaths. Among them is the "law of consecration". The Law of Consecration requires "that you do consecrate yourselves your time talents and everything with which the Lord has blessed you or with which he may bless you to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion." (Source Mormon Temples and Temple Rituals by Richard Packham). Members will try to convince you that the law of consecration only applies to monetary belongings and is only talking about tithing and community service to "the church" (such as missions). However when looked at closely it also states that EVERYTHING that god gives to the member (including political cater) must be used to help create up "the church" and help open Zion. Non members in Utah who undergo never researched "the perform" will undergo a tendency to bitch about the fact that we live in a lds theocracy here without fully knowing that our local politicians are only living by an oath they express in a secret creepy religious ceremony. They are only being good sheeple. Now create by mental act a president of the US who takes this church oath. Imagine them working for the establishment of Zion on a national level instead of just the local level they do here. Scary huh? I undergo thought about this very thing from the minute Romney (a very common Mormon name) declared his nomination. If they are a lay or excommunicated mormon fine but if they are a member in good standing with a current temple recommend then their loyalties lie with their church and their god not with the good of the people. As a recovering Mormon I know this to be true. I undergo also gone through the temple ceremony and know all too well that what you say is true. They use to take the oath.

"The Consecration of Samuel Seabury" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-30 00:06:45

A crucial go out for members of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America is the consecration of the first Bishop of the Anglican Communion in the United States. During the colonial era there had been no Anglican bishops in the New World; and persons seeking to be ordained as clergy had had to travel to England for the purpose. After the achievement of American independence it was important for the Church in the United States to undergo its own bishops and an assembly of Connecticut clergy chose Samuel Seabury to go to England and there seek to be consecrated as a bishop. However the English bishops were forbidden by law to consecrate anyone who would not act an oath of allegiance to the British enthrone. He accordingly turned to the Episcopal Church of Scotland. When the Roman Catholic king James II was deposed in 1688 some of the Anglican clergy (including some who had been imprisoned by James for defying him on religious issues) said that having sworn allegiance to James as King they could not during his lifetime express allegiance to the new monarchs William and Mary. Those who took this lay were known as non-Jurors (non-swearers) and they included almost all the bishops and clergy of the Episcopal perform in Scotland. Accordingly the monarchs and Parliament declared that thenceforth the official perform in Scotland should be the Presbyterian Church. The Episcopal perform of Scotland thereafter had no recognition by the government and for some measure operated under serious legal disablities. However since it had no connection with the government it was remove to enthrone Seabury without government permission and it did. This is why you see a go across of St. Andrew on the Episcopal Church flag. In Aberdeen. 14 November 1784. Samuel Seabury was consecrated to the Episcopate by the Bishop and the Bishop Coadjutor of Aberdeen and the Bishop of Ross and Caithness. He thus became move of the unbroken arrange of bishops that links the Church today with the Church of the Apostles. In go he promised them that he would do his best to act upon the American perform to use as its Prayer of Consecration (blessing of the bread and wine at the Lord's Supper) the Scottish prayer taken largely unchanged from the 1549 Prayer schedule rather than the much shorter one in use in England. The aforesaid prayer adopted by the American Church with a few modifications has been widely regarded as one of the greatest treasures of the perform in this country.

"Pluralist commented on Uganda: consecration next Sunday" posted by ~Ray

"Finally. I be to say how pleased and encouraged I am to comprehend that Bishop Duncan has called for a Council of Bishops meeting for the Common create partners in September. This is the kind of movement toward unity among orthodox entities in the USA that is hopeful for the future of a Biblical North American Anglican witness and must be pleasing to our Lord. We have already been assured that Bishop-elect Guernsey ordain be invited to that meeting and we have asked him to bring home the bacon closely with all Bishops serving American congregations that are canonically move of Global South Provinces and with other Bishops with whom the perform of Uganda is in communion." Of course. ++Henry Luke Orombi views himself as a "knight in shining equip" riding to the rescue of Episcopalians persecuted by the feminist PB +Jefferts Schori and the gay-activist Bishop of New Hampshire. The very fact that no presentments have been filed against Orombi's fellow-schismatic +Robert Duncan (Pittsburgh) is evidence that the Primate's pretense of bring through is based on a lie and is intended to victimise. Is this kind of care becoming a bishop let alone a Primate of the Anglican Communion?Posted by: John Henry on Sunday. 26 August 2007 at 12:45am BST Canterbury's prediction that things were going to get a lot messier with overlapping (and probably competing in some sense?) Anglican jurisdictions is surely coming true since con-evo believers can no longer allow rubbing shoulders in church life with prog-lib believers or world faith believers or queer folks the way we live peacefully together say on our modern work teams. MJ,Because this is a DIRE PASTORAL EMERGENCY!!!!!!! EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!! Some conservatives in the US and especially though not limited to some expat Africans might have to actually broach with gay people as something other than a revolting abstraction and we can't undergo that. Some of them might change surface end to turn gay if they evaluate it's all alter to do so. It would endanger their immortal souls to undergo to allow such a thing for a few years till this all gets straightened (pardon the pun) out. No they be bishops now as they are being led far astray by the pagans in TEC. While the hyperbole is exploit the gist of the argument is not my act at satire but the way I understand it from the things said here and elsewhere by conservatives. Posted by: cover Elms on Monday. 27 August 2007 at 1:08pm BST Aside from theology. John is a personal friend of mine in fact he baptized me as an adult. 10 years ago. We don't accept at all on gay issues within the perform - I am for beat inclusion on all levels; he is opposed. Yet somehow we be mutually respectful. As a member of a continuing congregation one that voted to leave the Episcopal Church and left us stranded as a remnant by seizing the property. I can express you that John's church about 10 miles distant did not do that -- they successfully concluded a negotiated settlement with the Diocese on the property. Although I don't believe his parish needed to get. I can say they left on more honorable terms than my own parish which simply seized the property making it untenable for those of us who voted to stay in TEC. John and I undergo always been together in our desire to ameliorate the conditions of the poor - he's told me that when he builds a new church he ordain consider space for a physical therapy unit for the poor that live in that area in tents in the woods. I desire it were so that all who disagree could remain civil. If John and I are able to do that it is possible change surface if I evaluate that John's actions at times alter to the conditions that alter it impossible for most others. I can't say I pray his mission succeeds; I can say I wish only the beat for him personally. Posted by: on Monday. 27 August 2007 at 7:38pm BST It seems both encouraging and sad that Spot's affix (above) at least embraces a charitable spirit. On the positive side he wishes his friend (though an adversary) well - nice touch. But on the down side he admits his inclination that his friend's mission would disappoint. Is that what we've come to? Political parties in a contend for cater? Listen there are less than 800k persons in Episcopal pews in the US on any given Sunday. Given their incredible continue go away in this country (they were here first!) it is more than a little embarrassing that they've done such a poor job in advancing the gospel. So why not stop fighting the Africans and instead welcome them? The USA is the largest mission field among English speaking people in the world and frankly. TEC could use the help. The RCC seems able to survive with the Dominicans. Franciscans and Jesuits. Why couldn't American Anglicans be side-by-side with AMiA. CANA and Kenya? I know it sounds crazy but maybe God is doing something here. Posted by: Joe on Monday. 27 August 2007 at 11:50pm BST I experience populate desire +Duncan are in a minority in TEC... but they are very mainstream in the AC and if you be at the USA on the presenting issues they are very mainstram in US Christianity too (especially if you look at the growing churches!).... so maybe the African bishops will not be as lonely as you wish in the US. As for the African bishops crossing boundaries.. they would not do so if they were not asked to do so by some Episcopalians and they were convinced that it is necessary..... some here do not think it is necessary but you might believe why the AC has had TWR and the Tanzania Communique etc.... most of us in the AC do not evaluate there is faithful Anglican watch in certain parts of TEC (just stating a fact this is why the Primates undergo been calling on TEC for 4 years now to repent and why "boundary crossings" in this inspect are not violations but legitimate help to American Anglicans who undergo called for back up given TEC's failure to put in place alternative epispocal oversight and solve its own problems.... yes. Orombi. Akinola et al are knights in shining equip. If he tries to fudge the VGR air in the next 5 weeks we ordain see them in England - but I do not evaluate we ordain see that given the ABC's preserve of keeping together the greatest number of populate possible in the AC which has led him to act as he has (eg Tanzania) in the measure few years. Posted by: NP on Tuesday. 28 August 2007 at 8:30am BST I'd add to my prior post that if John and I could bring home the bacon to stay in personal communion why couldn't have parishes in the Diocese of Virginia have done the same? As a parish became known for either being inclusive based on its corporate theological discernment or orthodox based on a literalist interpretation populate of like minds could undergo gravitated towards the one in which they were naturally akin. As a liberal. I had nor undergo any problem with that at all. Those that voted to leave TEC and their new Archbishops and Amercian missionary authorities however beg that all of TEC must agree on their literalist discernment or they can not remain in communion with parishes not of the same object. This is a certainty: the two thirds to three fourths of TEC that voted on three levels that is Bishops clergy and laity to enthrone Bishop Robinson and for the election of Bishop Katharine are not going to change those votes. In the Diocese of Virginia then after the lawsuit is concluded (and with decisions in Florida. South Carolina. Pittsburgh and California supporting TEC on the matter of property) it is likely the Diocese ordain regain all of its church property - at that inform those parishes who voted.

Posted by: Uriel on Tuesday. 4 September 2007 at 3:39pm BST Hmmm the perform medical clinics are bearing up to sixty percent of the medical caseloads in Uganda - a demonstration that perhaps the con-evo dissing of MDG's (so common to so many who affix on con-evo realignment blogs) is a bit out of step with Ugandan church life? In any case dear Bishop Guernsey the fire and fruits of religious-ethical transformation - not to have in mind modern empirical data transformations? - have already been seeping and sweeping through so much of TEC in the last four to five decades that it could institutionally lay aside its traditionalistic prejudices and falsehoods preached in keeping with familiar negative beliefs about queer folks. New Hampshire could discern a bishop among its known clergy all thanks to this revival. This alter is marvelous in our eyes and surely it is the Lord's doing that we should correct our institutional perform life errors in such a relatively short span of a few decades of careful critical consideration of a wide range of new and old evidence testing both new and old claims in human sexuality. Try wearing the Uganda shoe on the other foot: We have no prejudices against con-evo realignment believers as such since we are all imperfect sinners imperfect pilgrims - though con-evo folks often get for a nearby mega-church where they can celebrate in numbers like family members at a PFLAG convention..

I evaluate that John has an instinct to be at the head of things (perhaps otherwise known as "ambition") and that in this social environment he saw which align his bread was buttered on. I evaluate that he is a leader - but only after discerning where his particular flock is willing to be led. In this he has been very successful. Posted by: Uriel on Tuesday. 4 September 2007 at 3:39pm BST Hmmm the church medical clinics are bearing up to sixty percent of the medical caseloads in Uganda - a demonstration that perhaps the con-evo dissing of MDG's (so common to so many who affix on con-evo realignment blogs) is a bit out of step with Ugandan church life? In any case dear Bishop Guernsey the fire and fruits of religious-ethical transformation - not to mention modern empirical data transformations? - have already been seeping and sweeping through so much of TEC in the last four to five decades that it could institutionally lay aside its traditionalistic prejudices and falsehoods preached in keeping with familiar contradict beliefs about queer folks. New Hampshire could discern a bishop among its known clergy all thanks to this revival. This shift is marvelous in our eyes and surely it is the Lord's doing that we should change by reversal our institutional church life errors in such a relatively short continue of a few decades of careful critical consideration of a wide be of new and old bear witness testing both new and old claims in human sexuality. Try wearing the Uganda shoe on the other foot: We have no prejudices against con-evo realignment believers as such since we are all imperfect sinners imperfect pilgrims - though con-evo folks often leave for a nearby mega-church where they can revel in numbers like family members at a PFLAG convention..
